Anger Management
Three weekly anger management groups are available:
§ Men’s group
Women’s group
Adolescent group
Direct behavioral signs of anger:
Assaultive: Physical and verbal cruelty, rage, slapping, shoving, kicking, hitting, threaten with a knife or gun, etc.
Aggression: Overly critical, fault finding, name-calling, accusing someone of having immoral or despicable traits or motives, nagging, whining, sarcasm, prejudice, flashes of temper.
Hurtful: Malicious gossip, stealing, trouble-making.
Rebellious: Anti-social behavior, open defiance, refusal to talk.
Our goal is to empower members to effectively manage anger and it’s consequence. The group will address anger and coping strategies.
BPD - Borderline Personality Disorder Group
We offer an eight session, closed group, followed by two aftercare sessions. Our primary goal is to strengthen relationship skills. By implementing newly learned skills, changes will be seen both personally and interpersonally.
We will help you
· Increase your understanding of what Borderline Personality Disorder is and how it affects you
· Develop healthy coping skills that will benefit you and your relationships
· Strengthen your ability to better manage your impulses
· Stabilize your mood and your reactions to others
· Develop ways to change your thought process
· Solve problems more effectively
· Decrease self-destructive behavior
Mental Health Groups
Why group therapy? Group therapy can help to:
Cognitive Restructuring
This group will focus on how to change dysfunctional thought patterns into functional thought patterns. If you struggle with poor communication skills, accurately expressing yourself or interpreting information this weekly group will help you. We will work on addressing distorted thinking styles and take responsibility for our thoughts and feelings.
Mental Health Lifeskills
If you feel your mental health is getting in the way of being successful, this group will work on building the skills you need to improve your day to day life. We will meet weekly to work on developing a healthy support network, coping skills, appropriate communication and changing unhealthy patterns of behavior.
Substance Abuse and Chemical Dependency Groups
Alcohol and Other Drug Abuse (AODA) Services:
Services are available to:
§ Individuals who are concerned about their alcohol or drug use
§ Family and friends affected by someone’s alcohol and drug use.
Treatment is individualized and may involve a combination of the following:
§ Individual and Family Psychotherapy
§ Group Therapy
§ Psychiatric Evaluations and Medication
On site self-help meetings:
§ Alcoholics Anonymous – Monday 6:30 pm
§ SMART (Self Management and Recovery Training) – Tuesday 4:30 pm
Exploration Group
Are you unsure if you have a problem with alcohol or drugs? Are you or others in your life concerned about your drinking and/or drug use? This group will explore your views about your alcohol and drug use and what you want from treatment. We will explore your options, identify any changes you want to make and determine what motivates you to change.
Early Recovery Group
Do you think you have a problem with substance abuse? Are you looking to stop your use? Maybe you recently have and are looking to maintain your new lifestyle. This group will explore what you want from treatment and the skills needed to stay sober. We will create a plan to maintain the changes
AODA Life Skills Training Group
Have you experienced issues with alcohol or drugs? Are you wondering if you should continue to use or cut down? What if you do not think you need to make changes, but someone else has expressed concern about your alcohol and/or drug use? What if you already made some changes but question whether you need to do something different? We will explore essential life skills needed to significantly reduce alcohol and drug abuse.
Enhanced Recovery Group
Do you know you are alcohol or drug addicted? Do you want sobriety? Have you been in treatment before? This group will look at your previous recovery attempts. We will explore your support network, ways to manage cravings, reduce relapse and follow through with a relapse prevention plan that is right for you.
Co-occurring Disorders Group
Do you have a problem with substance use and have a mental health diagnosis? Are you looking to make changes to improve your life in these areas? This group explores previous treatment and what you currently want from treatment. We explore the way you see the problem and what you want to do about it. We will discuss alcohol and dug use, mental health issues, medication and recovery.
